Who and What is Amos?

For those of you at our house recently you have probably wondered? "why is there a little black baby doll in the family room?" Well this is Amos. Heath's prized childhood possession. His Granny made it for him when his mother failed to produce a black brother or sister ( all that Heath wanted was a little black brother or sister but didn't understand genetics) Addison is obsessed with him. She loves to chew on metal buttons on his lovely orange ensemble and to pull out his corn rows. Heath says and I quote " if the house starts on fire Amos is the one thing I would grab!" makes me feel special inside. Amos is so ugly he is cute and Addi loves him so...what can I do?

That's the funniest thing. I had a black "baby alive" when I was little because my dad was in charge of picking it up for Christmas and didn't pay attention to the packaging...it was seriously the best gift I ever got as a child. At least Addison is getting some appreciation for ethnicity!

Fire? That doll already looks like it's been through a fire.

That doll means so much to our entire family. :) I have such fond memories of Heath and Amos. He was never without his Famous Amos. Our Granny spent so much time making each of us dolls for Christmas and they ment more to us than anything else we have ever received as a gift. Well, except for Loni who didn't want and ant-eater (sp?) (it was really a red elephant). Oh my gosh I'm getting tears! Thanks for this post! LOL

That is so funny. I agree with Troy and Nancee! It is funny how you attach to things when you are a child and cannot give it up!

Oh I love Amos. Every time I see him I smile. It reminds of cute little Granny. Have I ever showed you my snuffy thing, Granny made. It rocks and I will never ever get rid of it
